Hello my dear community! Or should I rather call you my lovely Satanists?
Moscow's mayor Yuri Luzhkov describes the planned Moscow Pride as a „satanic act" which he - once again - wants to ban. Unfortunately, he can invoke public support: according to a 2008 poll, 84% of the Russian population reject homosexuality, considering it unmoral. That surely explains the massive hostility and violent attacks on the parade's participants in the last years. The most prominent example being Volker Beck, German Member of Parliament, who was injured due to an attack.
Nonetheless, Moscow Pride's organizers won't back down. They announced that they will demonstrate for their rights this year.
I think that deserves our respect and recognition! Therefore, queersome has listed Moscow Pride as an especially advisable but - here we have to be honest - also dangerous event.
We wish the organizers success and all participants a peaceful demonstration!
