Kisses provoke beatings

May 19, 2010

Kissing is an expression of affection, tenderness and, ideally, of love. And as you know love knows no borders, being, so to speak, universal. But not every form of love is received enthusiastically. In France, a country whose history is characterized by the call for universal human rights such as freedom, equality and fraternity, attacks on kissing people took place yesterday. Well, these people - I hardly dare to say it - were homosexuals. On the occasion of the International Day against homophobia more than 400 queers met in Lyon for a kiss-in to advocate increased tolerance and acceptance. Apparently, this is still necessary even in Western countries. I have had to report about attacks and violence against gays, especially in Eastern Europe and Africa. But like love, homophobia is unfortunately also universal, and the usual suspects came together to fight - also violently - against anything unsuited to their abstruse worldview. Nearly 200 Catholics and right-wing skinheads felt provoked by so much public love: they protested loudly with posters declaring, for example,  "We are children of heterosexuals." Oh gee, thanks for reminding me. I almost managed to repress that, as well as the fact that homosexuals are the spawn of the Devil. That is why queers in Moscow celebrate satanic acts! And of course, every decent Catholic has to struggle against it, even alongside mentally retarded extreme-rightists (because they know how to deal with effeminate fags). Just a pity that once again police were on site and used tear gas. That way the gays will never learn their lesson! But seriously: The attacks in Lyon show that the queer community still has to fight against homophobia and for more acceptance worldwide. In this sense, I send you my kisses together with a cheer for universal love!
