Facebook does not like kissing Queers

November 05, 2010

The Pope preaches charity, but we know that the Catholic Church has its very own definition of legitimate love. And queer love is frowned upon by God. But apparently, also by Facebook; since the Facebook page "Queer Kissing Flashmob" was blocked, at least the first version. The site was set up to advertise for a kiss flash mob that should be held when the Pope visits Barcelona this coming Sunday. The campaign's organizers want to promote for the acceptance of their love and protest the Pope's criticism of the liberal gay policies of the Spanish government (among other things, it had legalized gay marriage).
But the call for the kiss event seems to be hateful, threatening or obscene, since these are at least the reasons which - according to Facebook's Terms of Use - led to its blocking. In all probability, the cautious censors rightly feared that the Queers will once more provoke violence with their kisses. But apparently Facebook is not so sure anymore: now there is a new page advertising the event. More than 1,000 users have already registered as attending and I would encourage you to participate. Therefore, we have listed the event and hope that it remains peaceful. Having said that: Go forth and kiss!
